How can I keep cats out of my flower gardens? I live on a farm and we have barn cats. They love to use my flower beds as their "litter box". Eww! Aside from that just being gross, they stir up the mulch and make a general mess of things. I don't want to harm the cats but I do want them OUT of my flower gardens! Any ideas?
What do i add to the soil for vegetable and flower gardens? We just got blessed by MIL with a rototiller so we don't have to hand shovel our veg garden and new flower bed my question is what do we add to the soil peat moss and top soil, or black earth or triple mix or some or all ?

How can I fortify my flower gardens against weeds? When I was a kid I weeded the flower beds once a week for maybe an hour and they always looked great. In my own yard it seems like weeding is all I do and it still looks like a jungle. I'm about ready to give up and pave it over. Can you give me any suggestions?
Rabbits are treating my flower gardens like their personal salad bowl. How can i get rid of them ? I've tried repellents, both commercial and homemade varieties and don't want to resort to using my.22 . Fencing is not a viable option either. Any suggestions ? While I appreciate the suggestions a cat is not possible as the garden is at a school. I've tried the hair trick in many forms to no avail and am willing to try the other mixture suggested but fear it is just another variation on a theme which has yet to work for me.
Are they bad for just your lawn or flower gardens too?i am putting in a new bed,side of my lawn, & found grubs I tilled a corner part of my lawn to put ina new flower bed, and I found grubs. How in thee world does a person keep their dogs from digging around the house and flower gardens? Ive used black pepper,ive hidden to try and catch them and of course they dont do it till the minute im gone.If i do ,on a rare occation;ill yell and chase them off.They know imediently they are in for it and sounter off.One is a great Dane almost 2yrs and the other is a black Lab about 3-4mths old.Im ready to turn them into fertilizer! HELP! We live on ten akers.they run and play all day either wiyh us,eachother,or the horse.I know its probly becouse there isnt any shadeclose to the house, so they want to cool off,even though they usually go to the pond for that too.I just want them to stop.Oh ill nver really get rid of them i love em!
How can I organically/naturally control pests from eating my flower gardens? I do have some grubs (I have seen them). I also have noticed "holes" in some of my plants. I guess some sort of insect is doing that. I would like "cheaper" methods if possible.
Is there a way to prevent Bermuda grass from growing in our vegetable, and flower gardens? In Southeast Colorado the easiest grass to maintain is Bermuda, however this creates a problem because the Bermuda grass creeps like a ground covering weed. It's great if you're trying to build a yard with no stickers, not so great if you have an area that you want to be grass free.

Pea Gravel in flower gardens? I've planted a bunch of "spreading" plants and flowers. I deciced to use pea gravel instead of mulch. Will the pea gravel prohibit the spreading of the plants??
Flower and shrub gardens and dogs? I bought some pretty shrubs and perennials for my backyard and my two dogs have run of my fenced yard but they have completely ruined the shrubs and flowers, I've tried fencing the plants but my dogs can jump really, really high and get into the plants. How do I start a flower garden? I live in NC and I'd like to start a small flower garden in front of my home. It's in an area that gets sunlight periodically during the day. Cut flower garden- which plants grow best in the tropics? I live on a Caribbean island. I'd like to put in a cut flower garden so I can do flower arrangements. Looking for suggestions for a flower garden in Minnesota? I want to put a flower garden in the yard in front of my house, but I'm not sure what I would be able to use. Since that side of the house faces the west, it doesn't get sunlight until the afternoon. Get rid of clover in my flower garden? I have a serious problem with clover in my flower garden... I'm hesitent to use chemicals because I do not know what their effect would be on the flowers and other plants. When I pull them out they just come back stronger. What are some creative ideas for a flower garden? I am having a 850 square feet flower garden, and it is going to bed english/cottage style. its going to be mostly "elegant" flowers, like roses, lavender, eustoma, lillies sweet peas, angelonia, foxglove ect, that all bloom in summer, and are all shades of pink, purple, or white. there is also going to be a small fountain in the middle of the garden with a a rock walk way to and around it, made with rocks with mother of thyme growing between them . also the garden will be surrounded by a short lattice fence, and border like flower bed that it 8 feet up sitting on poles going all around the lattice fence with morning glories hanging down from them. And at the back, is a tall lattice fence 8 feet high with clematises growing up them. and also a arch at the entrance. i'm in zone 5 ontario canada. any creative ideas, or good plants to add will be great! thanks in advance.

Planting my flowers and getting a flower garden? I have a strip of lawn in the front of my house that I want to turn into a little flower garden. How do I go about it, because all that is there now is grass? Do I just dig up all the grass chunks along with the dirt? Is there anything to do to stop the grass from growing back? Has any one ever heard of putting newspaper in your flower garden to prevent weeds? Last year, my flower garden had so many weeds, I couldn't stand it. I heard some where that if you put newspaper down first and then water it and then cover that with mulch, that the newspaper will prevent weeds from growing. Is that true? Is there a certain way you have to do it? Any input would be nice.
