outdoor garden fountain stream shooting? I am looking for a outdoor garden fountain that shoots single streams of water in short bursts. I have seen them at Disney and other places. Can you tell me where to find them or what they are called? The best way to describe the fountain is a leap frog jumping from lily pad to lily pad.
Powering a fountain/filter for a container water garden? This is my first time trying something like this. I’m making a 30 gallon half-barrel water garden with 2-3 goldfish, some aquatic snails, and appropriate flora (hyacinth, anacharis, parrot’s feather…). I would like a fountain and filter, but the closest electrical outlet is 50 ft away. I am trying to avoid the hassle of installing UF cable, and have considered as an alternative this solar fountain: http://www.siliconsolar.com/shop/catalog/Night--Day-Solar-Fountain-Pump-Kit-p-2.html I can’t tell if the fountain pump is also a filter, and it won't be running 24/7. I’ve been reading but haven’t been able to determine what degree of filtration is recommended for a container garden with fish. At least it will keep the water from getting stagnant, which may discourage algae growth, and it will help to oxygenate the water. If I were to couple the solar fountain with weekly 20% water changes, would this be sufficient to deter algae growth and keep ammonia/nitrite levels down?
How to keep fish alive in a water garden? I bought a small fountain and I have 3 plants in it with 3 tad poles and 2 fish. I have a Pix if want to send me a message. I am worried that the water is not good water for my fish. My Fiance thinks that the plants are too much dirt for a small fountain or my water garden is needing an oxygen pump to keep the Fish alive. My mom has a similar larger scale water garden with a Fountain, plants and fish the only difference is she has well water and her watergarden is much larger than mine. So do I need an oxygen pump plus my fountain? Should I take the plants out? Or do you think I need to buy bottled water to put in my fountain; or atleast buy the chemical that takes the floride and chlorine out of the water? Just put plants and fish in my tank last night. Came home from work today my trickler got clogged up with dirt from my plants and somehow my water was dripping out. It wasn't empty when I got home today but the water level was low. And guess what? I killed 2 tad poles and 2 fish. Maybe I should just stick to plants I can keep them alive. Then I don't have to be responsible for anything elses death. Wish I could post a pix here, there is one on my 360 page if you want to see what I am working with.
Making a large clay pot fountain? I want to make a large clay pot fountain to use as a "wishing well" at my wedding reception. My idea is to use a baby pool as the base, covered with plastic liner and stones lining the bottom. Then, a wooden cover to disguise the pool would be built around and set on top. I want to stack clay pots to a height of 4-5 feet, and have the water cascade over the pots. Can anyone tell me what materials I need and if I'd need a strong pump to get the water that high? I've already looked for plans for a fountain this large, but all I've found are projects for tabletop fountains or garden ponds. Thanks!

We have 1 large tree over the area I would put her space - it is in the corner of the yard with a wooden fence on each side. do you have any shade trees? one and what climate zone do you live in? How to prevent moss from developing in rockery or fountain? We recently got rockery or a fountain set up in our garden. The problem is that when we fill it up with water and leave it or even use it occasionally. Green substance (called moss i think) starts building up at the base. then we have to empty it all and then clean it by hand which is a really unhappy process. Is there any way this moss accumulation can be avoided or delayed? thanks
How can I power a small fountain/pump 50 ft from an outlet? I am making a 25-30 gallon container water garden with a couple goldfish. I would like to have a filter/fountain in it, but where it will be is 50' from the closest electrical outlet. A solar fountain is out of budget, so I would like to run an outdoor extension cord under the ground. Years ago, my Dad ran two 100' unprotected outdoor cords between two houses and left it there for about 5 years without problems. But my situation is a little different. It will be underground, and it will be running almost constantly. Is this feasible? If so, how can I protect the plug at the pump? Electrical tape? Thanks!
how to figure out the size of fountain for pond? I am planning on planting a meditation garden and want to put in a small pond. I know I need a fountain or waterfall to keep the water from becoming stagnate. How do I figure out the size needed?
What is the best way to run power to a garden pond isolated by a sidewalk? I have a strip of garden in my yard running the length of my fence. I'd like to install a small pond, with fountain, there. Unfortunately it's divided from the main span of yard, including the deck where the electrical outlet is, by a sidewalk. Is there any easy and safe way for a do-it-yourselfer to get the electrical cord over to that section of the yard, past the sidewalk? Keeping in mind I want to use the plug-in source of power, and not dig, bury, hardwire, etc. Easy, but safe, is the goal!
How can I do more for the birds in my garden? I say garden but really it's a tiny (2 meters by 3 meters) cobbled courtyard. It's walled off and has plants round the perimeter, mostly year long greens, ivy and some seasonal flowers. There's a small fountain in the wall which has fresh water. Now I put out bread every day and get the most adorable little birds, I'd love to do more (am a sucker for animals) so is there anything else? Do I have to wait till winter for balls of seeds?
what do the fountain and the silvery-clear liquid symbolize? There was a frail old lady with silver threadlike hair tending carefully to her flowers in a magnificent garden. This was the most elegant garden I had ever seen. There were somewhat robust hedges demarcating the garden. There were bright yellow flowers that made a circle just inside the hedges. There were unerringly picturesque red, blue and violet flowers arranged in an indefinite manner, a design that she alone could comprehend. And in the middle was the piece de resistance; a shimmering brazen fountain that dispensed silvery-clear liquid. I couldn’t decide if this liquid I saw, even for the split-second that I saw it, was water; it had this ethereality that I could not understand. The picture still flashes in my head, every time the liquid seeming to be something different.
Japanese garden ruined by neighbors tree.? I created a Japanese garden with fountains, lanterns, bridges and fine gravel. I even combed the gravel and rock to give it that zen quality. However, my neighbor has this shit bag tree that sheds leaves all over it; but, even worse it has these weird nut berries that created a huge mess when they burst on the ground. How can I protect my garden that I worked so hard on? Is there a shade to cover it?

could someone help me Identify a fountain/garden fixture? A piece of bamboo is hinged on a small post at a T. It is longer and heavier on one side and because of this it tilts. Water flows into one side and fills up that side. That side grows heavier than the other side and tilts and dumps the water into the resevior. When this side drops the other side raises and knocks something, making a "goonk" sound. These fixtures are sometimes found in Japanese Zen gardens and Ive heard that they are also used as a wildlife repelant. Please help
Looking for a out door Fountain? How does the Out door Fountain works? And what is the best kind to get? I am looking to put one for my Japanese rock garden. thanks. I am in Central Florida.
Garden design advice please? I was asked to design a small garden, mostly influenced by zen gardens. The site is shaped like a triangle, and there's bamboo on one of the corners. However, the owners don't want sand or gravel because they have dogs, and the site doesn't seem to be apt for a zen garden (there's a Mexican fountain and a cross), so I thought about using some big rocks, tall ferns (similar to lady ferns), santolina and salvia. Santolina mostly to resemble the color of gravel, and salvia because I like the scent and the purple flowers somewhat resemble Japanese cherry blossoms. Do you have any other recommendations? Thanks for the advice.
How do I clean my outdoor fountain in a green way - no bleach? I have a beautiful outdoor fountain in my yard and would like the birds to use it in the spring and summer, last year I used bleach and wound up with a dead bird - (so sad), the water turns green and we need to empty it, clean it, then fill it up again. Just want to keep chemicals out of the garden underneath it too. Thank you
Ive searched numerous garden shops for an indoor water fountain but either theyre huge or u can hear the motor any stores near berkeley or in sf that have a wide variety for a decent price where u can NOT hear the motor? (kind of defeats the entire purpose of relaxation). willing to spent $50 max for something good, dont want it so big that its hard to carry around. thanks tons! PS: online searching has also been difficult since i have no idea whether it makes a loud motor sound and i dont want to risk losing shipping fees for returns (not to mention the hassle).
What are some creative ideas for a flower garden? I am having a 850 square feet flower garden, and it is going to bed english/cottage style. its going to be mostly "elegant" flowers, like roses, lavender, eustoma, lillies sweet peas, angelonia, foxglove ect, that all bloom in summer, and are all shades of pink, purple, or white. there is also going to be a small fountain in the middle of the garden with a a rock walk way to and around it, made with rocks with mother of thyme growing between them . also the garden will be surrounded by a short lattice fence, and border like flower bed that it 8 feet up sitting on poles going all around the lattice fence with morning glories hanging down from them. And at the back, is a tall lattice fence 8 feet high with clematises growing up them. and also a arch at the entrance. i'm in zone 5 ontario canada. any creative ideas, or good plants to add will be great! thanks in advance.
Fountain or air pump for aeration? I need to oxygenate my half-whiskey barrel water garden for a couple comet goldfish. With all the plants, everything is balanced except for oxygen levels. Would a fountain or an air pump be better for aerating the water?

Leave Fountain on.? I have a rock garden fountain: http://www.kineticfountains.com/envirascape-rock-garden-fountain.asp that fountain, and i was wondering if i could leave it plugged on all the time 24/7, including overnight. The fountain comes with an AC adaptor, and i was afraid that it might overheat, or break. This has happened to me before, i bought an adaptor for my CD player, and i let it plugged for 3-4 days, and it started smelling really bad and it broke. Will the same thing happened to my fountain? Can i leave adaptop plugs plugged in all the time? Please help, thanks.
